Advanced Port Control is a peripheral device control solution that works at the bus level, disabling all devices except built-in boot disks, essential Human Interface Devices, and devices explicitly enabled by the system administrator.

Advanced Port Control provides a peripheral device control solution for any machine hosting sensitive protectively marked data. Advanced Port Control is managed via a simple Configuration Tool, and allows the administrator to create and maintain separate policies (white lists and black lists of devices) both for the protected computer and for each individual user, if required.

Advanced Port Control: Our peripheral device control solution

Devices are managed by unique ID or by vendor/model data:

  • if an enabled device has a unique ID, Advanced Port Control will allow access to this specific device only
  • if an enabled device does not have a unique ID, Advanced Port Control identifies it by the vendor/model data it carries, and will allow access to all devices carrying the same vendor/model data (if this level of security is acceptable).

Existing user policies may be imported onto additional machines. Since an imported user policy includes the user ID, Advanced Port Control peripheral device control solution automatically creates a new user on the second machine, if necessary. Policy conflicts are resolved by applying the user policy in preference to the machine policy. If no policy exists, Advanced Port Control peripheral device control solution disables all devices except those that are enabled by default.
